Boomerang Healthcare, The Boomerang Academy and Boomerang Consultancy Proudly Continue Sponsorship of One of the UK’s Premier Rowing Events
Boomerang Healthcare, The Boomerang Academy and Boomerang Consultancy were proud to continue their sponsorship of the prestigious Durham Regatta this weekend, supporting one of the most significant events in the national rowing calendar.
Now in its 193rd year, Durham Regatta attracts more than 10,000 visitors over two days and remains one of the UK’s most iconic rowing competitions. Set against the stunning backdrop of Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle on the banks of the River Wear, the event brings together competitors from across the country to compete at the highest levels of amateur and junior rowing.
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, health, wellbeing and youth development, Boomerang sponsored three major championship races during the regatta:
• Women’s Junior 18 Single Sculls (WJ18 1x) – won by Olivia Tute
• Women’s Junior 16 Single Sculls (WJ16 1x) – won by Beau Gritton
• Women’s Championship Single Sculls (WCh 1x) – won by Suzie Youlton
In an inspiring display of local sporting excellence, all three races were won by talented young female athletes from Chester-Le-Street Amateur Rowing Club, located just a few miles from Birtley, where Boomerang Healthcare delivers high-quality care and support services throughout the community.
Olivia Continues an Outstanding Season
The winner of the Women’s Junior 18 Single Sculls, Olivia Tute, received the Boomerang Healthcare-sponsored award at Durham Regatta, following an exceptional run of performances both regionally and nationally in her aptly named boat SonicBoom
Over recent weeks, Olivia has competed against some of the country’s strongest junior and amateur athletes, securing a place in the C Final at the National Schools Regatta (NSR) held on the Olympic rowing lake at Eton Dorney. She also achieved an impressive third place in the time trials and sixth place in the A Final at Nottingham City Regatta, competing against scullers up to five years older than herself.
Most recently, Olivia travelled to Glasgow to compete at the Scottish Rowing Championships, where she secured a silver medal in the Women’s Intermediate Final at Strathclyde Park, the former Commonwealth Games rowing venue.
Her successful, busy season continues in July, competing in the Cumbrian Talkin Tarn Regatta July 4th then onto the prestigious British Rowing Championships in Nottingham 17-20th July.
