Gateshead, UK — Boomerang Healthcare is pleased to announce the success of its recent Craft Day, held in collaboration with Gateshead Councils Learning and Skills Team at the Boomerang Academy. The event brought together service users, caregivers, and staff for a creative and uplifting day designed to promote wellbeing, confidence, and meaningful engagement.
The Craft Day reflects Boomerang Healthcare’s commitment to achieving positive outcomes for all service users. Through hands-on activities and collaborative support, the event created opportunities for individuals to develop new skills, build social connections, and experience a sense of accomplishment in a safe and encouraging environment.
Participants enjoyed a variety of crafts—including fudge making, truffle making, and designing a light-up Christmas tree—each facilitated by team members from Boomerang Healthcare and Gateshead Councils Learning and Skills Team. Staff provided one-to-one assistance where needed, ensuring that every service user could participate fully and comfortably.
“Our goal is always to create experiences that genuinely enhance the wellbeing of our service users,” said Jac, Registered Manager at Boomerang Healthcare.
“Craft Day is a wonderful example of how creative activities can support emotional expression, improve confidence, and foster connection.”
Representatives Annie and Sarah from Gateshead Councils Learning and Skills Team praised the collaborative spirit of the event, noting their appreciation for the spacious environment of the Boomerang Academy and the creative interaction among all service users present.
The event highlights the ongoing partnership between Boomerang Healthcare and Creative Support to deliver high-quality, person-centred activities that empower service users and support positive personal outcomes.
Paul, CEO of Boomerang Healthcare, shared:
“It was a pleasure hosting and participating in the craft sessions, seeing everyone so involved and happy.”
He continued, “Bob kept everyone entertained with singing and dancing, while Joan shared that she really appreciated being invited, as she rarely leaves her home due to confidence, worry, and anxiety—and nearly cancelled on the day.”
Boomerang Healthcare’s focus on meaningful outcomes continues. Joan and Anne will be attending a Christmas lunch next week—one of ten lunches generously donated by The Mill Tavern in Hebburn—and the Boomerang Team are already planning a Valentine’s Day craft session to keep the creative, crafty momentum going.
