Further to recent press coverage we appreciate that Boomerang Healthcare Service Users and their Family members will be concerned about the ever-changing current situation relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Epidemic in the UK.

We are contacting our Service Users and Families to assure you that we are taking all of the necessary and appropriate steps to deal with the risk associated to COVID-19 in a homecare setting in line with the recent guidance from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Public Health England (PHE) as well as our robust Infection Control Policy.

Since the spread of the virus was first reported in the news our staff have been following strict procedures around hand cleaning and infection control in line with our Infection Control Policy and guidance from the NHS.

All care staff (operational and support) have been regularly briefed and kept updated (face to face and email by Boomerang Healthcare and mailshots from the CQC) about the virus. Over the weekend we were provided with updated guidance and we will be issuing our staff with additional information today.

In the coming days/weeks certain tasks may require our care staff to wear additional Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as masks, eye protection and sleeve covers. Please do not be alarmed, these will only be used where necessary and where it is recommended by PHE to use such equipment. *

We can confirm that, to date, NONE of our staff or service users are currently self-isolating or affected by the virus.

We would ask that you continue to provide carers with access to an appropriate area within your home with hot water, soap and paper towels for them to wash their hands prior to care commencing and after care is provided.

We would also like to ask, if you or your family member become concerned or aware that Coronavirus signs or symptoms become apparent that you inform us immediately so that care can continue but adequate precautions taken by the care team.

Should you have any concerns or require additional reassurance please contact:

Nicole Page - Registered Manager on 03003 65 95 45

We will update you as and when further updates are provided to us by PHE and the CQC.
